Open to participating districts Grades 9-12 students in the Southeast Iowa Region
In-person instruction
Formerly known as BILA (Burlington Innovative Learning Academy) VIBE FIT is our grades 9-12 full in-person option.
Students take classes in-person at James Madison Education Center (JMEC) with smaller classes sizes and academic support.
VIBE FIT students also have access to:
- School lunch
- In-person PE
- Core-subject instructors in-house
Extracurriculars
VIBE FIT students in grades 9-12 are encouraged and able to participate in all or some of the following in their home districts:
- Band
- Choir
- Theater performances put on by your home district
- Orchestra
- Sports
- Dance
- Clubs
- School dances
NOTE: Good standing with grades are usually needed for participation in most extracurriculars at home schools. Check with your home district to see what constitutes “good standing.”
FAT Fridays
Each Friday, the VIBE FIT, FLEX & VIRTUAL high school students have the opportunity to come to JMEC to create, explore, build & socialize with their peers. Activities will be different each time.
A truncated schedule (click here for schedule) will be used on Fridays to accomodate for these Fun Activity Times. All 9-12 grade VIBE students are welcome!
Students made calming jars during on most recent FAT Friday. Calming jars are used to help anyone when they are feeling anxious or just want to take a moment to themselves to slow down and breathe.
Ms Terrell and Ms. Yochum’s students work to personalize their own jars using all kinds of fun elements.
